Education and Learning

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, creating opportunities, and building stronger communities. At UNCC, we believe that every child, young person, and adult deserves access to quality education regardless of their background, displacement, age, gender, or social status.

That is why we work with communities to address the barriers that prevent children and vulnerable groups from accessing education, including poverty, displacement, conflict, health challenges, gender inequality, and limited educational resources.

UNCC delivers education initiatives in Kenya and Uganda, while supporting education programs in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo through strategic partnerships and community-based collaborations.

Our education programs are designed to improve access to learning opportunities, strengthen community resilience, and promote lifelong learning for children, youth, women, and adults.

Access to Education

UNCC supports vulnerable children, refugee learners, child mothers, and disadvantaged families to access education and remain in school. We work with communities to reduce the barriers that contribute to school dropout, child labour, early marriage, and educational exclusion.

Early Childhood and Child Protection

We promote safe and inclusive learning environments that protect children and support their educational development and wellbeing.

Adult Literacy and Lifelong Learning

UNCC provides opportunities for adult learning and literacy programs to improve reading, writing, life skills, and community participation, particularly for women and vulnerable adults.

Girls' Education and Gender Equality

We support educational initiatives that promote girls' education, empower women and girls, and increase awareness of gender equality, women's rights, and the prevention of gender-based violence.

Community Education and Awareness

Education is integrated across our health, protection, livelihood, and social inclusion programs to strengthen communities and improve knowledge on health, wellbeing, safeguarding, and human rights.

Teacher in a Box Initiative

In 2026, UNCC is partnering with Rotary Australia to implement the Teacher in a Box program in Uganda. This innovative education initiative aims to improve learning opportunities in underserved schools and refugee communities by providing offline digital educational resources, teacher support materials, and technology-based learning tools.

The Teacher in a Box program seeks to:

  • Improve access to quality educational content.

  • Support teachers in resource-limited environments.

  • Reduce educational inequalities.

  • Enhance digital learning opportunities.

  • Strengthen educational outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Building Brighter Futures

Through partnerships, innovation, and community engagement, UNCC works to ensure that education becomes a pathway to opportunity, dignity, and long-term development.

By investing in education today, we help children remain in school, empower families, strengthen communities, and create hope for future generations.

Our vision is a world where every child can learn, every young person can thrive, and every community has the opportunity to build a brighter future through education.
